Slack Notification Configuration

  1. Integration Name: Name the integration.

  2. Slack Channel: Specify the Slack channel where notifications should be sent.

  3. Slack Token: Provide the token to authenticate with Slack.

Slack App Token:

Initially we need to create a Slack App in the Slack workspace For creation of Slack App and generation of Slack App Token , please follow below steps

a. Click on - Workspace –> Administration –> Manage apps.

On clicking the Manage apps, it redirects to the slack app directory page, then

b. Click on —>Build option. (Top right of the page)

On clicking the Build option, it opens an url - https://api.slack.com/apps/.

c. Click on - Create New App —> From Scratch.

d. Choose the App Name & choose Workspace then click on Create App.

Create App opens ‘Basic Information page’

e. Click on Bots option, then assign a scope to your bot token, click on Review scopes to add.

f. Scroll down to the Scopes section, you will find Bot Token Scopes under this section. Click on Add an OAuth Scope under Bot Token Scopes and give the Slack Bot permission by Adding Bot Token Scopes as (chat:write)

g. Click on Install to Workspace —> Allow Send messages as @App Name

h. Executing above step, the Bot User OAuth Token gets generated for your selected workspace, copy and keep safe the Bot User OAuth Token.

This ‘Bot User OAuth Token’ is the required Slack App Token we need to pass while adding a Slack Integration

Bot User OAuth Token = Slack App Token

Slack Channel name

We need to connect the newly created Slack App with a Slack Channel present in the same Workspace in which we configured the Slack App

For connecting newly created Slack App with a Slack Channel, we need to follow these steps

a. Click on the Slack Channel get info (Slack Channel Name) —> Integrations

Clicking on Integrations option from above step, you will get Add apps option in Integrations page.

b. Click on Add apps.

List of available apps in your workspace will be displayed, click the ‘Add’ option present beside the newly created Slack App Name.

Summary: Click - Add apps → Add(from list of available apps)

Use this Channel name as the required Slack Channel name while adding Slack Integration

  1. Test the Connection:

    • Once all necessary details are entered, locate and click the "Test Connection" button.

    • Verify that the connection is successful by checking for a confirmation message or status indicator.

Add Connections:
