Data Identifiers are the building block of DLP . Data identifiers are patterns consisting of keywords, Regular expression, proximity and confidence score.
As an example we can consider "Credit card number" is a data identifier of type Personal Identifiable Information(PII).
In the document it can be present as Credit Card : 112-22-33-556
It might consist of a Keyword "Credit Card" and 10 digit number (a regular expression) and keyword and regular expression are in proximity of 20 character(s).
Examples of PII include names, social security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and any other information that could be used to distinguish or trace an individual's identity. In the context of data security and privacy, protecting PII is crucial to prevent unauthorized access, identity theft, or other forms of harm to individuals.
Data Identifiers can be User defined or Pre Defined
User defined Data Identifier:
User defined data identifiers are created and customized by users according to their specific needs and requirements. Users can define the criteria and parameters for identifying particular types of data within their datasets.
Create new User defined data Identifier by clicking on "Add Data Identifier", fill in the necessary details
Data identifier Name, Description, Keywords, Regular Expression, Proximity etc..
Click "Submit" to Add New Data Identifiers.
Navigate to Policies section click on Data Identifier to see the User defined data Identifier
Pre defined Data Identifier:
Pre defined data identifiers come pre-configured with predefined criteria for identifying common types of sensitive data. These identifiers are often based on industry standards, regulations, or best practices. Pre-defined data identifiers offer convenience and efficiency by providing ready-made solutions for identifying sensitive data without the need for extensive customization.
User-Defined Data Identifier: Customizable and can be edited or removed.
Pre-Defined Data Identifier: System-managed and cannot be edited or deleted.
